wordly things.

First of all, I am writing my
polybigbang, which I was just about to give up on and had a sudden spark of inspiration for. It's not what I expected to do, but I am excited for it, and I wrote 2k for it yesterday and am kind of bouncing at the thought of writing more today either before bed or before busses tonight, which is a great sign, I think. To keep in it I have to have 8k by November 12th (it doesn't actually has to be 100% done til posting date, which is going to be late December at earliest); I think I may actually manage that, holy shit.
So I'm writing Clint/Bucky/Natasha/Steve with a possible fifth point of Sam but definitely Sam being around and awesome, in which Clint takes in strays, Bucky becomes one of those strays, which ends in Steve being one too, Natasha is totally just here to popcorn and has no feelings about identity issues or belonging at all what are you talking about, everyone is lonely and has trouble connecting, and everybody gets a recovery narrative to some extent. If this sounds like a thing you are interested in reading along as I write and possibly giving me commentary on giant plot holes or how it's shaping up, I'm posting it under a filter for Bast to read, and I'd be happy to add a couple more people as well. (If this sounds like a thing you are willing to beta, I'd also really like to know so I can hit you up when that time comes around. >>)
I also posted some stuff that had only been on Tumblr + one thing I wrote a couple of days ago, so have a small Ao3 dump:
i know we can make it (if we take it slow)
Bucky-centric with guest spots by Sam, Steve, and Natasha; Bucky/Steve and Sam/Riley if you squint but mostly gen
Summary: Sam teaches Bucky about the spoon theory. Somehow, it actually helps.
Tags: Sam Steve and Nat show up too but it's a Bucky fic, why did I write Bucky fic? I don't know, Bucky Barnes Recovering, Mental Health Issues, not specified as anything but in a general "Bucky issues" kind of way, difficulty asking for and refusing things, Spoon Theory, Spoons, Sam Wilson is a Gift, Natasha Is a Good Bro, Bucky Barnes Has Issues, Steve is trying very hard to know what to do, Post-Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Bucky/Steve if you squint, past Sam/Riley if you squint, Grief/Mourning, (on Sam's part and not a big focus but definitely there), Not Beta Read
too much at stake (too late to change)
Tony/Rhodey, Soulmate AU
Summary: Almost nobody knows that Tony Stark is Rhodey's soulmate. It makes everything harder, once he gets kidnapped.
Tags: Alternate Universe - Soulmates, specifically that one where you see in color when you meet your soulmate, Iron Man 1, through an AU lens, Don't Ask Don't Tell, Implied/Referenced Homophobia, canon compliant character in danger and other character worrying about their death, Not Beta Read, Rhodey-centric
kid, one day you'll be famous
Tony + Rhodey, band AU
Summary: When James Rhodes is eighteen, he goes to MIT and meets a pain in the ass kid who sounds like a rock god in training. Rhodey has a guitar, Tony has a voice to be reckoned with, and maybe this wasn't the plan, but it's not bad.
Tags: Alternate Universe - Bands, sort of Rhodey/Tony if you squint, author suggests you squint gleefully, Canonical Character Death, (Howard and Maria), pre-canon as much as an AU can be pre-canon but, starts at MIT and moves shortly afterwards, Alcohol as a Coping Mechanism, is not a focus of the story but is part of it, Tony Stark has the healthiest coping mechanisms, Not Beta Read
So, yeah, that's all I got. It is still not honestly a great brainspace, and I'm tired and sore, but my writing brain is working better than it has in a while, so I'm going to try and coast that wave as long as I can manage, because I like it.
(On the flip side, I listened to Burn It Down on repeat for what had to add up to at least two hours between breaks, lunch, and before work. So y'know. At least I didn't actually cry in Walmart?)
